Paulette Payne

Oct. 6, 1947 – July 11, 2019

Paulette Payne, age 71, formerly of Ironton, passed away, Thursday evening, July 11, 2019 at The Laurels of Athens. Born Oct. 6, 1947 in Ironton, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Chester Heaverlin and Gertrude “Betty” White Heaverlin.

A 1966 graduate of Rock Hill High School, she was employed as an assembly line worker in Columbus. She was a former resident of Columbus and had been living in Athens the last couple of years.

She enjoyed the television, especially old movies and soap operas. She had a set schedule for watching her favorite programs, in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Paulette is survived by her son and his partner, Robert A. Payne and Mary Swain; a granddaughter, Chloe Payne and a grandson, Smith Payne; a sister, Peg (Wade) Dyer, of Wheelersburg; two brothers, Rick (Jolinda) Heaverlin, of Ironton and Kerry (Kathy) Heaverlin, of Ironton.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Payne on Feb. 8, 2016; and a sister and brother in law, Kathy and Doug Lawless.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, 24 Morris Ave., Athens, with Pastor Butch Deere officiating. Friends may call Wednesday 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the services.

Pamela Jo Reed

Jan. 6, 1953 – July 11, 2019

Pamela Jo Reed, 66, of Ironton, went to be home with the Lord on Thursday, July 11, 2019, surrounded by family, after a long but courageous battle with cancer.

Pam was born on Jan. 6, 1953 in Ironton. She was the daughter of the late Challie Salyers Jr. and Ruth Jayne Wood (George), both of Ironton. Pam was a graduate of Ironton High School, class of 1972 and a member of Gateway Baptist Church of Ironton.

Pam is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, James M. Reed (Ironton); daughter and special son-in-law, Jessica and Wes Spurlock (Huntington); her “angel on earth” granddaughter, Kennady Spurlock (Huntington), and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Pam was preceded in death by her special daughter, Jamie Lynn Reed; and her brother, Charles “Eddie” Salyers, both of Ironton.

Pam was a very strong lady who not only was a warrior, but an encouragement to so many. Her undying faith in the Lord during many difficult times was, and still is, an inspiration to us all. Pam’s infectious laugh and courageous smile would brighten up any room. She was an amazing wife, mother and MiMi. She was a great friend to many, as well as a caregiver, to family and friends in their time of need.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Gateway Baptist Church, 310 S. Sixth St., Ironton with Pastor Scott Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. Monday until time of the service at the church.

Anna Bishop

Dec. 12, 1922 – July 11, 2019

Anna Eileen Bishop, 96, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019 at a local health care facility.

The Fullerton, Kentucky native was born Dec. 12, 1922, the daughter of the late Elliot and Sophia Bundy Eldridge. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Bishop.

Mrs. Bishop attended Rock Hill Schools and was a former sales clerk for Kresge, where she worked for 42 years. She attended Christ Temple Church in Huntington, West Virginia.

Anna was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Imogene King, Betty Beasley, Gwen Deere and Jenny Eldridge; and one brother, Bill Eldridge.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Terry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service.

Zachary Hampton

July 9, 1987 – July 10, 2019

Zachary Hampton, 32, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, formerly of South Point, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019.

He was born July 9, 1987 in Huntington, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Merlin and Beverly Lynd.

Zachary received his BSN degree from Ohio University Southern and his BA degree from Marshall University.

He was working as a registered nurse at St. Francis Medical Center, Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He loved to cook, travel and loved his family very much.

He is survived by his father, William Hampton of South Point; his parents, Mark and Emma Lynd Stewart of South Point; one sister, Haley Stewart of South Point; one brother, Justin (Kristen) Lynd of Lafayette, Louisiana; fiancé, Lance West of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; paternal grandparents, Nancy and William Hampton of South Point; niece, Mackenzie Lynd; nephew, Liam Lynd; beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with pastors Marc Price and Dallas Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Tiffany Dotson

Tiffany Michele Dotson, 26, died on July 6, 2019.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church in Huntington, West Virginia. Visitation will be one hour before.
