Two items to take note of

After a week of activity, the Lawrence County Fair wraps up today with entertainment and the small and large animal auctions by 4-H members.

As we mentioned earlier this week, the bidders are a vital part of the 4-H program, with the money from individuals and businesses going to members, who then spend it here in the county and region.

We commend all who threw their support behind these young farmers, but, for those who could not make it, an opportunity exists to back the program year round.

We would like to commend Jeremy Clay, of the Lawrence County Economic Development Coalition, for his presentation on Thursday to the Mayors Partnership for Progress.

The meeting of southeast Ohio mayors and local and state officials took place at the Lawrence County of Chamber headquarters.

Clay gave attendees an overview of developments at The Point Industrial Park, where he serves as director, as well as efforts to bring business to areas like downtown Ironton.

He showed ways the county is growing and did a great job in representing the county.
