ROME TOWNSHIP — Desserts brought in the money for a good cause last week.

The Lawrence County Junior Fair Board hosted its Sweet Tooth Auction on Tuesday, July 10.

The event serves as the chief fundraiser for the group’s activities, as buyers bid on baked goods and treats brought in by junior fair board members and their families.

Prices for items such as plates of brownies and cakes typically fetch a high price, as local politicians and organizations bid generously to support the fair board.

All the funds go to the junior fair board’s work in preparation for and running fair events.

This year’s event raised more than $2,700 for the group, Rachel Fraley, 4-H educator for the extension office at Ohio State University, said.

This year’s fair wrapped up on Saturday with the animal auctions.
