RHJL rolls in opener, 17-7

YOUNGSTOWN — The Rock Hill Junior League All-Stars did a lot with just a little.
Rock Hill had only seven hits but it helped generate a 17-7 rout of the Youngstown Boardman All-Stars in the Junior League State Tournament on Sunday.
Jake Fox singled to drive in three runs as Rock Hill took a 5-2 lead in the first inning.
Boardman tied the game in the second but Drew Schug walked and scored in the third inning and Rock Hill led 6-5.
Boardman regained the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth, but Rock Hill rallied in the bottom of the inning for four runs and it was 10-7.
Isaac Doolin doubled home a run, Chase Nichols and Schug each drew a walk forcing in a run and Anthony Stamper had an RBI when he grounded out.
Rock Hill added two runs in the fifth and then got five big runs in the sixth as Doolin, Fox and Mason Ratliff all knocked in a run.
Doolin worked 3.2 innings in relief to get the win while Fox went the final two innings for the save.
Doolin was 2-4 with a double and two RBI, Fox 2-2 with three RBI, Ratliff had a hit and three RBI, Izaak Cox was 1-3 with an RBI, Dylan Griffith was 1-4 and Brady Cremeans was 0-1 with a walk but scored four runs.
