YOUNGSTOWN — Early in the movie “Stripes,” Bill Murray tells his soon-to-be ex-girlfriend, “I had a real bad day.”
The Rock Hill Junior League All-Stars know just how he feels.
Things started bad and ended the same way in a 17-2 loss to Mason in the Junior League State Tournament on Tuesday.
Mason got five runs in the second and three in the third to lead 8-0. They put together a nine-run inning in the fifth to lead 17-0.
Rock Hill refused to lay down and quit as they scored both their runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Izaak Cox was 2-2 and Isaac Doolin 1-3 as Rock Hill managed just three hits on the day.
Mason had 10 hits and took advantage of five errors and eight walks.
Rock Hill was scheduled to play an elimination game on Tuesday night.
