Tonight, at 6 p.m., the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland will host a free public performance of “Freaky Friday: The Musical.”

The production, based on the Walt Disney film from 2003, is the final day of the summer arts camp at the Paramount and is the culmination of the two-week production camp within that offering.

The session takes the cast, which range in age from young children to teens, through all aspects of a theatrical production.

It is but one course offered at the theater in the summer, with other sessions devoted to dance, visual arts, poetry and other subjects.

This is an annual event for the Paramount and the theater and its staff provide an excellent opportunity for children and teens around the Ti-State to continue learning during the summer and to get an extra focus on the arts, which tend to be overlooked far too often in our society.

We encourage parents to consider signing their children up for next year’s camps (scholarships are available for low-income students) and to take advantage of this fine offering in our region.
