Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) is motivating blood donors to continue their much-needed donations during the summer months by offering a chance to win a 2019 Toyota Tacoma.

Every donor, age 18 and up, who donates through Sep. 6, will be entered to win the brand new truck. Donors can donate every 56 days, giving them up to two opportunities to be entered this summer.

KBC, which began in 1968 in Lexington to centralize the area’s blood-banking efforts, now provides services in 90 Kentucky counties from Pikeville to Paducah and serves more than 70 hospitals.

Participants can save a local patient’s life at the upcoming blood drive from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at King’s Daughters Family Care Center in the community room at 912 Park Ave. in Ironton.

Blood donors must be at least 17-years-old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.
