Marshall’s Beardall among long-snappers on Mannelly Award 2019 watch list

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Football’s Matt Beardall has been selected to the Patrick Mannelly Award Watch List, an honor that is presented annually to the best long snapper in the FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision).
Beardall was a preseason All-Conference USA selection this season after garnering first-team honors a year ago. He enters 2019 having made 34 consecutive starts at the position.
The winner must be of senior standing, have started 75 percent of games in his senior year, snap on punts and placements, and demonstrate a strong mentality, notable athleticism, as well as speed, accuracy and consistency in their snaps.
The award is determined by a committee comprised of former NFL long snappers, punters and kickers, special team coaches, as well as snapping instructors, NFL player agents and sportswriters.
Semifinalists are chosen on Monday, Nov. 16 and finalists will be announced the following Monday.
The winner will be announced on Saturday, Dec. 14.
