SP churches give out school supplies
SOUTH POINT — More than 600 backpacks were given out Tuesday evening at the village park in South Point.
It was part of the annual community giveaway by the village’s churches.
Taking part this year were Tri-State Worship Center, C3 Church and Burlington Baptist.
Vickie Wagner, whose husband is pastor at Tri-State Worship Center, said the giveaway has taken place for several years.
“We had hot dogs, inflatables, Disney princesses and free back to school haircuts,” she said.
Wagner said the churches order the backpacks empty and then their congregations fill them with supplies.
“We send a list home with them and they bring in what we need,” she said.
