Freida Mae Ison

Jan. 18, 1942 — Aug. 9, 2019

Freida Mae Ison, 77, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2019 at her residence.

The Ironton native was born Jan. 18, 1942, a daughter to the late Fred and Elizabeth (Wilson) Anson. Freida was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ison, who passed away on June 17, 2003.

Mrs. Ison was a 1960 graduate of Coal Grove High School. After high school, Freida spent her days loving and caring for her family’s needs. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, coloring/artwork, loved both plants and animals, crocheting and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Freida was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Ison is survived by three daughters, Christine (James) Love, of Marysville, Tamara (Ernie Sizemore) Sparks, of Kitts Hill, and Stephanie (Cory) Gillum, of Pedro; two sons, Dennis Ray Thacker Jr., of Ironton, and John (Eva) Ison, of Ironton; three stepdaughters, Margaret Spurlock, of Flatwoods, Brenda Moore, of Ironton, and Lisa Abrams, of Pedro; two stepsons, Kenneth (Paula Chaffins) Ison Jr., of Ironton, and David (Tina) Ison, of Ironton; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; 19 step-grandchildren; and a host of step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Freida was preceded in death by three stepsons, James Alvin Ison, Gerald Ison and Steve Ison; three sisters, Ruth Morgan, Mary Brooks and Doris Runyon; and one brother, Fred Anson Jr.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with the Rev. Gene Easterling officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Charles Alley

Charles Richard Alley, 78, of Proctorville, died Saturday Aug. 10, 2019 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Charles is survived by his wife Patricia “Pat” Alley.

A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church Proctorville. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory Proctorville, assisted the family with arrangements.

Timothy Hamlin

June 30, 1954 — Aug. 11, 2019

Timothy Michael Hamlin, 65, of Ashland, Kentucky passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019 at a local nursing facility.

Tim was born June 30, 1954 to the late George Edward and Lois (Hayes) Hamlin.

Tim graduated from Boyd County High School and enjoyed playing drums, after he graduated, with a local band. He loved to support local businesses for anything he needed and enjoyed building model trains. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Cathy Lynn Clutters.

Tim is survived by two nieces; Jamie (Jason) Pennington of Ironton, and Janice (Chris) Rose of South Point, also survived by a nephew; Joshua (Michelle) Clutters, of Ironton, and several great-nieces and nephews.

Robert Dearman

Robert “Rob” Lee Dearman, 68, of Chesapeake, died Thursday, Aug 8, 2019, at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Dearman.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, with Pastor Ronnie Tyree officiating; burial will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Christine Hawkins

Christine Hawkins, 80, of South Point, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019.

Funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Frank Donnelly at 2 p.m. Saturday at Schneider-Hall Funeral Home in Chesapeake. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday. Burial will follow at Burlington Greenlawn Cemetery in South Point.
