Michael Hopper
June 12, 1953 – Aug. 10, 2019
Michael R. “Crusher” Hopper, 66, of Ironton, passed away Aug. 10, 2019, at Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
The Waylon, Kentucky native was born June 12, 1953, the son of the late Elbert Vic Hopper Sr. and Doris Oakley Hopper. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Fox Hopper, whom he married on Feb. 4, 1971.
Mike was a 1972 graduate of Rock Hill High School and a former self-employed truck driver. He loved drag racing, working on cars and watching his son race. He was raised in the Hanging Rock Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael (Amy) Hopper of Ironton; a daughter, Amy (Scott) White of Ironton; three brothers, Vic “Butch” Hopper Jr. of Hanging Rock, Jack Hopper of Ironton, and Mark (Donna) Hopper of Ironton; grandchildren, Austin Hopper, Allison White, Aiden White, and Megan Blum; and one great-grandson, Zayn Colon.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2318 S. Fourth St., Ironton. Graveside services will follow in Haverhill Cemetery with Rob Hale officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mike’s honor to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland, Kentucky 41101.

Albert Merrill Carnes, 82, of South Point, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2019.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.

Anthony Cabell
Anthony “Andy” Cabell, 45, of Chesapeake, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Schneider-Hall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Saturday at Schneider-Hall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point.

Ruth Daniel
Ruth White Daniel, 94, of Chesapeake, died July 11, 2019, in the Emogene Dolen Jones Hospice House in Huntington, West Virginia.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Huntington, West Virginia. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Vernon Ellis
Vernon Leon “Poodle” Ellis, of Proctorville, died on Friday, Aug. 9, 2019.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Brenda Hatfield Miller Ellis.
There will be a memorial service 3-5 p.m. on Saturday at Beulah Baptist Church, County Road 411, Proctorville, with Pastor Rob Jones officiating.
No flowers are necessary, but pictures would be welcomed.
