Easterling edges out Workman as medalist

PINE GROVE — The biggest battle of the day was for medalist honors.
Ironton Fighting Tigers’ Brayden Easterling was locked in a tight battled with the Portsmouth Trojans Jack Workman while on the girls’ side Ironton’s Bella Delawder was matching swings with the Coal Grove Lady Hornets’ Jada Smith during a golf match at the Ironton Country Club on Tuesday.
Easterling shot a 43 and beat Workman by three strokes to take boys’ medalist honors while Smith and Delawder each shot a 49 and share the award.
Ironton’s Cole Triplett fired a 59 and was second to Easterling for the Fighting Tigers. Logan Price was three shots back at 62 and Noah Woods had a 72.
Victor Day shot a 55 and Kris Hill carded a 68 for the Rock Hill Redmen.
Besides Workman, Daewin Spence shot a 50 and Aiden Donges had a 52.
On the girls’ side, Ironton had a 237-total led by Delawder while Trinity Littlejohn fired a 59, Makayla Collins had a 64 and Maddie Foster was one shot back at 65.
Smith’s round was followed by Ellie Holmes with a 60 and Jayden Roe had a 63.
Lauren Henry carded at 58 for Rock Hill.
