Lady Pointers top SG; Lady Hornets get win over Lady Flyers

SOUTH POINT — Always nice to start with a win.
The South Point Lady Pointers opened the volleyball season with a four-set win over the South Gallia Lady Rebels on Wednesday.
South Point won 26-24, 17-25, 25-22 and 25-19.
In the reserve game, the Lady Pointers won by identical scores of 25-19, 25-19.
Coal Grove 3, St. Joe 1
IRONTON — It was another tough test and another learning experience for the young St. Joseph Lady Flyers.
The Coal Grove Lady Hornets downed the Lady Flyers in four sets on Wednesday, 25-21, 25-16, 22-25 and 25-10.
Statistic leaders for the Lady Flyers were:
Chloe Sheridan two aces, two kills, nine assists; Jadyn Green one ace, four kills, nine digs; Faith Mahlmeister three aces, six kills, 13 digs; Bella Whaley one kill, two assists, seven digs, one block; Emilee Blankenship one ace, two kills, one assist; Emilee Blankenship one ace, two kills, one assist; Gracie Damron one kill, one dig, one solo block and one assist block; Emma Whaley one ace, five digs.
