Stitt sparks Dragons victory over Rebels

PROCTORVILLE — Michael Stitt was quite a hit with his teammates and the Fairland fans.
The Dragons’ senior running back helped propel his team to a 34-12 win over the Tolsia Rebels on Friday night in the season opener.
Stitt ran 13 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns as the Dragons broke open a close game by outscoring the Rebels 20-0 in the second half.
Jordan Williams recovered a fumble at the 36-yard line and Stitt took over from there with a 36-yard scoring run on the next play.
Max Ward completed a 33-yard pass to Stitt for the next touchdown and then quarterback Zander Schmidt raced 19 yards for a score.
Stitt got the next Fairland touchdown on a 14-yard run.
Brennan West recovered a fumble for the Dragons and then caught a 22-yard pass from Ward to the 3-yard line. J.D. Brumfield scored on the next play.
Brumfield also had a big game with 75 yards on 15 carries and two scores. Schmidt added 21 yards on two carries.
The Dragons racked up 302 yards of total offense with 203 coming on the ground and the other 99 through the air.
Ward was 9-of-16 passing for 99 yards and an interception.
Stitt had two catches for 40 yards, West two receptions for 25 yards, Jordan Williams one for 11, Tevin Taylor one for 10, Gavin Hunt two for 8 and Schmidt one for 5.
On the defensive side, Williams had 4.5 tackles with two for a loss, three sacks and a fumble recovery.
Brumfield had a strong defensive game with three solo stops and six assists for nine total tackles. He had one tackle for a loss.
Blaine Cremeans two solo stops and nine assists for 11 tackles.
Emma Marshall was 4-of-5 on extra points in her first varsity game.
Tolsia finished with just 127 total yards with 66 rushing and 61 passing.
