Anna Myers

Dec. 19, 1935 – Sept. 9, 2019

Anna Lee Myers, 83, of Scottown, walked through the Gates of Heaven Monday, Sept. 9, 2019. She was born Dec. 19, 1935, the daughter of the late Joe and Mettie Shepherd of Willow Wood.

She worked at Lawrence County General Hospital as a nurses aid and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She attended Perkins Ridge Missionary Baptist church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James E. Myers; a son, James Rodney Myers; and siblings, Grover Shepherd, Dora “Lizzy” Dunn, Cecile Lakins, Ola Milton and Maggie Baker.

She is survived by three children, Jerry (Brenda) Myers, of Willow Wood, Bev (Tom) McGraw, of Bidwell, Kim (Mike) Carrico, of Scottown; daughter-in-law, Jeri Riggle, of Willow Wood; brother-in-law, Gerald Baker, of Grove City, sister-in-law, Beulah Shepherd, of Gallipolis, sister-in-law, Eleanor Roach, of Springfield; sister-in-law and best friend of 60-plus years, Betty Myers; grandchildren, Shawn (Jackie) Corn, of Patriot, Shannon (Gwen) McGraw, of Thurman, Scott (Sam) Myers, of South Point, Adam (Bethanie) Corn, of Scottown, Christina (Todd) Shafer, of Scottown, Jeremy Riggle, of Waterloo, Mika Ross, of South Point, Aleshia Napier, of South Point and Jill (Travis) Moore, of Jacksonville, Florida; great-grandchildren, Braden and Tanner Corn, Gabriella and Giulianna McGraw, Rylie, Averie and Barrett Myers, Adalyn, Annabeth and Wylder Corn, Ethan Shafer, Bentley Riggle, Tifany Myers, Jacob and Millie Napier, Brynn and Carter Moore, Britany Pike; and several great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends that she dearly loved.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Perkins Ridge Missionary Church with Rev. Jack Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Perkins Ridge Cemetery and visitation will be Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, family would like to request donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

William Martin

Sept. 23, 1940 – Sept. 9, 2019

William S. Martin, 78, of Ironton, passed away, Monday, Sept. 9, 2019. Mr. Martin was born Sept. 23, 1940, in Ironton, a son of the late David and Virginia Rose Martin. He was also preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Judy White Martin, who passed away on Dec. 5, 2013.

Mr. Martin was a graduate of Dawson Bryant High School and was a United States Air Force veteran. Mr. Martin retired from Armco Steel, where he worked in the shipping department. Mr. Martin loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Emory, Doug and David Martin.

He is survived by daughter, Sandy (Wally) Nease, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky; grandson, William (Shawna) Cade; five great-grandchildren, Logan, Kevin, Dakota, Miles and Bentley; also several nieces, nephews, friends and family who will miss him dearly.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton, with the Rev. Leon Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Garden. Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Carolyn Davidson

Carolyn Rose Davidson, 86, entered her heavenly home surrounded by her family on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Paul B. Davidson.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Section 11B of Woodland Cemetery.

Joseph Carter

Joseph (Joe) Louis Carter, 77, of Browntown Township, Michigan, died Aug. 31, 2019.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church, 615 Depot Square, Ironton, with the Rev. Richard Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, Greenup, Kentucky and visitation will be 10 a.m. Friday, until time of the service, at the church.

JoAnna Reed

JoAnna Kitts Reed, 82, of South Point, died Monday Sept. 9, 2019 at Cornerstone Hospital.

A private family graveside service will be held at Rome Cemetery in Proctorville. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.

Sheila Taylor

Sheila Kay Taylor, 61, of Ashland, Kentucky, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 at home.

She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Taylor.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens, Ashland, Kentucky with Jerry Greenslait officiating.

Barbara Urban

Barbara Jean Urban, 75, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Saturday Sept. 7, 2019 at her residence. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Urban.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Altizer Baptist Church in Huntington, West Virginia.
