A Cincinnati-based artist who is attempting to document old barns throughout Ohio for a painting series says he is still seeking a location in Lawrence County.

Robert Kroeger’s Ohio Barn Project will feature an oil painting based on a barn in each of the state’s 88 counties.

Kroeger, a dentist and second-generation artist, said he has locations lined up in southern Ohio for the first week of October, but is still needing a barn from Lawrence County.

Ideally, he is seeking a barn built in the period from the 1800s to the 1930s for the paintings, which he produces with knives in the impasto method.

For the project, he takes a photo and does a sketch on site in a one-day visit.

He said his goal is to produce a coffee table book of the paintings when the series is finished.

He said those who would be interested in taking part in the project or suggesting a barn they know of can reach him through the contact form on his website at www.barnart.weebly.com.
