NEW BOSTON — You gotta tip your hat to Tyler Lilly. As a matter of fact, you have to tip it three times.
Lilly pulled off the hat trick with three goals as the South Point Pointers blanked the New Boston Tigers 4-0 on Thursday.
“Playing on thick grass, it took us quite a while to get used to how to play where we play on turf,” said Pointers’ coach Zach Jenkins.
“Tyler sparked us with a hat trick in the first half, especially with the two goals just before the half.”
Lilly scored on a penalty kick at the 8-minue mark but the next goal didn’t come until 37 minutes with an assist from Tanner Runyon.
The pair teamed up again two minutes later and it was 3-0.
The final goal came late in the second half when Ryan Goodson scored an unassisted goal.
“Isaiah Nease didn’t get credit for any assists tonight, but he played two beautiful crosses in that ultimately found their way to a South Point jersey and into the net,” said Jenkins.
“Kyle Sexton and Malachi Potts played their guys out for a short-handed New Boston squad,”
Goalie Brody Blackwell had six saves. New Boston’s Brady Voiers had nine saves.
The win was the sixth straight for the Pointers who are now 6-3.
