Philip Barnette

Aug. 17, 1952 – Sept. 18, 2019

Philip C. Barnette, 67, of South Point, entered Heaven on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019. He was born Aug. 17, 1952 in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Ross Comer; his father, Clyde Barnette; and his stepfather, Jim Comer.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Bryant Barnette; stepmother, Dottie Comer; two daughters, Jody Walker Newman and Jessica Barnette McKee; son-in-law Brent McKee; 12 grandchildren, Alexandra Walker, Ashley Cornwell, Brittany Newman, Eli Newman, Jose, Joseph, Anthony, Gavin, Madelyn, Lucy, Mason, and Olivia McKee; two great-grandchildren, Mylah and Koda Cornwell; and many friends that he considered family.

He retired from Labors Local #83 in Portsmouth. He was an active member of First Baptist Church is Russell, Kentucky and a supporter of Amy for Africa as well as other ministries.

He was devoted to his family, to serving others and to studying the Bible.

A private family memorial service will be held.

Todd Ritchea

May 26, 1974 – Sept. 16, 2019

Todd Linn Ritchea, 45, of Ironton (Rock Hollow), passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2019, at The Ohio State University Wexner Center. Mr. Ritchea was born May 26, 1974 in Ironton, the son of Vickie Ritchea (Mart) Damron.

Todd was a graduate of Rose Hill High School and attended Mount Vernon Nazarene College and Ohio University Southern campus in Ironton. Todd was an incredible artist and enjoyed music. He used his body as an expression of his love for the art of tattoos and tattooing. Todd loved the outdoors and fishing. He was very handy and loved fixing things, especially cars.

Todd is survived by a son, Jakob Ritchea, of Cincinnati; a daughter, Mya Ritchea, of Cincinnati; an aunt, Debbie (Mike) Curry, of Ironton; a cousin, Alisha Gannon (Ricky) Ortiz, of Flatwoods, Kentucky; two second cousins, JK McKnight and Zoey Ortiz, of Flatwoods, Kentucky; and a high school sweetheart, Sarah Fraser, of Cincinnati.

Todd was preceded in death by grandparents, Ollie and Alfreda Ritchea; and an uncle, Jerry Gannon.

Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m., on Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to City Gospel Mission, Addiction and Recovery Programs, 1805 Dalton Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45214.

Eva McGraw

Eva Sherell McGraw, 65 of Hamlin, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, West Virginia.

No services will be held. Schneider-Hall Funeral Home assisted the family.

Barbara Wheeler

Sept. 24, 1936 – Sept. 17, 2019

Barbara Gayle Wheeler, 82, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland Kentucky. Mrs. Wheeler was born Sept. 24, 1936 in Ironton, a daughter of the late Gaylord and Effie (Marie) Compston. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Clyde Wheeler, whom she married June 24, 1955.

Barbara was a graduate of Dawson Bryant High School and a member of Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Ironton.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by, three daughters, Deborah (Tom) Dilley, of St. Louis, Missouri, Teresa (Chris) Hardy, of Ironton and Rebecca (Dwain) Harper, of Kitts Hill; two sons, Bryan (Melani) Wheeler, of Ironton and Jeffery (Michelle) Wheeler of Franklin Furnace; two sisters, Carolyn Matney, of Franklin Furnace and Jeanie Hartley, of Millersburg; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Compston.

Graveside service will be noon Saturday at Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point with Rev. Danny Pancake officiating.

Susan Adkins

Susan Elizabeth Adkins, 53 of Scottown, died Sept. 18, 2019. She is survived by her husband, Donald Adkins.

Hall Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

John Blaylock

John Anthony Blaylock, 51, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, West Virginia.

Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, with Pastor Bobby Young officiating. Burial will follow in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Ceredo, West Virginia. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Gregory Pittman

Gregory A. Pittman, 58, of Proctorville, died on Monday, Sept. 16, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Cheri Pittman.

A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Rome Church of Christ, Proctorville. After the service there will be a fellowship dinner and visitation in the adjacent hall.
