WESTWOOD, Ky. — Luke Leith had a coming out party.
Leith ran twice for 79 yards and two touchdowns and caught two passes for 51 yards and two more touchdowns as the Symmes Valley Vikings rolled past the Fairview Eagles 50-6 on Friday.
“We’ve been waiting for Luke to have a game like this because we knew he was capable,” said Vikings’ coach Rusty Webb.
“But we played well in all three phases of the game. I thought our kids played extremely hard. We’re very pleased with the effort we got from all of our kids.”
Symmes Valley (3-1) racked up 423 total yards with 316 on the ground and 107 through the air. Quarterback Jack Leith carried 13 times for 100 yards and as 3-of-5 pass for 75 yards including a TD pass to his brother.
Josh Ferguson had a big all-around game as he ran 13 times for 106 yards, threw a touchdown pass and returned a kickoff for a score.
Jack Leith had a 1-yard scoring run and Gavan Yates kicked the conversion for a 7-0 lead.
Ferguson then threw a halfback pass to Luke Leith for 32 yards and a score and it was 14-0.
Fairview got its lone touchdown on a 45-yard pass from Jack Roy to Jay Ferguson and it was 14-6.
With the Vikings facing a second and 25, Jack Leith hit Ethan Patterson with a 29-yard pass that set up a 19-yard scoring pass from Jack to Luke Leith.
Luke Leith made it 27-6 with a 29-yard scoring run and then he followed that with a 50-yard scoring gallop for a 34-6 lead.
Yates kicked a 27-yard field goal on the final play of the half to make it 37-6.
Josh Ferguson returned the second half kickoff 76 yards for a touchdown and it was 44-6.
Jack Leith fumbled a snap, picked up the loose ball and ran 7 yards for the final touchdown in the third quarter and it was 50-6.
Symmes Valley visits Sciotoville East in a non-league game.
