SOUTH POINT — The South Point Pointers were racking up the points.
The Pointers dominated the Portsmouth Trojans in a 14-0 Ohio Valley Conference soccer win on Tuesday.
South Point is 8-3 after starting the season 0-3.
The Pointers are 6-1 in the OVC and visit Gallipolis on Thursday in a pivotal conference game.
“Tonight was a much needed tune-up for us going into Gallia Academy on Thursday,” said Pointers’ coach Zach Jenkins. “We had struggled scoring of late so this kind of broke the seal a little bit.”
Braylon Balandra scored just two minutes into the game with an assist from Carmie McGuffin and then McGuffin scored at the 14-minute mark with an assist from Ryan Goodson and the rout was on.
Tanner Runyon scored the next two goals with assists from Tyler Lilly and McGuffin and then Kyle Badgett scored with 39 minutes on the clock with an assist from Josh Helton and it was 5-0 at the half.
Balandra got a goal to start the second half and McGuffin had two more goals to give him a hat trick.
Goodson scored at the 51-minute mark and then Balandra also completed the hat trick with his third goal eight minutes later.
Victor Mendez, Seth Saunders, Logan Southall and Runyon scored the final four goals for the Pointers.
