‘Notes to Nora’ advice column coming soon to Tribune

Published 9:20 am Saturday, October 12, 2019

Dear readers, I hear you. With my heart, I see you. Because of this, I am inspired to create an advice column.

My goal is to become more connected with you, as individuals and as a whole community. I don’t have to tell you how difficult life can be, you already know that. Some of you have shared your deep concerns with me. My goal is to offer some words of encouragement, advice and comfort. When appropriate, I will use the powerful tools of humor and gratitude in tackling the trials we endure.

In Notes to Nora, I will anonymously share your concerns and experiences in a brief format and subsequently respond with the best insight and guidance I can give. Remember I am human, I am not a therapist or a pastor. I am merely a 60-year-old woman who has walked many paths on my own, and many more paths with dear friends.

Advice columns have been part of the American society since the 1690s.  There is a special kind of encouragement we get as we consider the thoughts and difficulties others are having and realize we are not alone. In the past months, I have shared many memories and thoughts.  Through this avenue, some of you have reached out to me in a manner that is both humbling and encouraging.

I desire to use this advice column in such a manner that you and I feel connected, and to show the reading community that we walk the twisted, broken path of life together. We will use this as a window into the thoughts and feelings of you, the readers. I will not trivialize personal problems. This column is meant to inspire, lift up and entertain. Together, we can conquer trials that lay ahead.

Your challenge is to email or snail mail letters to The Ironton Tribune with your concerns or stories. The column will feature topics or issues that would benefit a wide range of our reader audience. All identifying information about the writer of the letters will be deleted so that you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts honestly.

If you would like to participate in this effort, please send your questions, comments and curiosities to “Notes to Nora,” The Ironton Tribune, PO Box 647 Ironton, OH, 45638 or email to norastanger@gmail.com.
