SEAMAN — There’s a reason the North Adams Lady Green Devils were the No. 1 seed in the sectional tournament.
North Adams lived up to the seeding as they beat the St. Joseph Lady Flyers 10-1 in the sectional finals on Thursday.
“North Adams is an excellent, well-coached team and should go far in the tournament,” said Lady Flyers’ coach Dan Blair.
The Lady Green Devils got their first goal four minutes into the game and led 7-1 by halftime.
St. Joseph (9-7-1) scored its lone goal at the 11-minute mark when Emma Whaley scored off an assist from cousin Bella Whaley.
Gracie Damron recorded 14 saves.
St. Joseph had 11 shots on goal and eight corner kicks. North Adams had 23 shots on goal with three corner kicks.
“Gracie was busy tonight,” said Blair. “Even though the Devils scored 10, she still had 14 saves on the night.
“I’ve said it before, but I am so proud of these girls and all they have accomplished,” said Blair. “We had 12 players and due to some of them playing volleyball as well, we have only been able to have one practice since the season began.”
The Lady Flyers have a makeup game on Tuesday at Minford.
