Billie Perry

March 19, 1937– Oct., 19, 2019

Billie Lee Perry, 82, of Ironton, on Saturday, Oct., 19, 2019, her heavenly Father sent his angels to take her home. She really didn’t want to leave her girls, but she knew God would take care of them until it was their time to come home.

Her testimony was revealed in her obituary she wrote for herself… “I don’t have any words to tell you how happy I am to meet my heavenly Father, Chelsea, Darrel and Earl, along with all of my other family members and church family who have gone on before. I will no longer need my cane and I don’t have a single pain anywhere.”

“Born March 19, 1937 to the late William and Geraldine Deskins of Kenova, West Virginia, I attended Kenova and Catlettsburg school. I married my best friend, the late Earl Eugene Perry, who has been waiting on me in heaven since May 11, 1984. I am leaving behind, and waiting for their time to come to me, my three darling daughters, Diane (Edgar) Anna, Irema (Raymond) Lewis and Debbie Perry all of Ironton; a brother, Bob (Marsha) Deskins of Titusville, Florida and sister, Brenda Deskins; and special niece, Susie West, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky; my three special granddaughters, Tina (Gary) Morrison, Tammy (Shane) Hanshaw and Amy (Kevin) Dilley; and one grandson, Derek Fraley; two great-grandchildren, Aaron Hanshaw and Kami Dilley; many nieces, nephews and good friends, along with my wonderful church family. Also, special mention to Rhonda Burton, Cheryl Horner and Tim Stapleton, who were members of my family for a long time.”

“I attended the Ironton City Mission Church for the past 35 years, although the last few years, I was unable to attend very often due to not being able to drive at night and not being able to walk well. I lived in the country and the church vans only ran in the city, so they weren’t able to pick me up. I relied on the TV program on Sunday morning. There was also a little church over in Catlettsburg , Kentucky, that I attended, it was sold to the city and torn down a few years, but it was such a good place with so many good people. They were so good to me while Chelsea was sick; they were just special with prayers and financial gifts to help her with expenses. They even helped her with the funeral bill.”

“I have requested a very quick and short graveside service, that was held 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019 at the Perry Family Cemetery, by Pastor Jeff Cremeans and Pastor Jim Cremeans. Mark Werner played a recording of “Those Golden Bells.” Also, a tape of Curt Elswick and myself was played of us singing “I’ll Just Go On Home,” I was laid to rest beside my precious Earl, Darrel and Chelsea.”

Billie wrote her own obituary; the final paragraph sums up what she has been longing for… “Please try to not be sad for too long, because I am so happy- I feel so good – I’m with my Savior and my precious Chelsea, Darrel and Earl and remember…I just went on home to wait for you there.” – Granny.
