Joseph Viars

Aug. 24, 1957– Oct. 29, 2019

 

Joseph Denver Viars, 62, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019 at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky.

Joseph was born Aug. 24, 1957, in Ironton; a son to Minnie Katherine (Jenkins) Hilgenberg and the late Joseph Denver Viars.

Joseph was a 1975 graduate of Symmes Valley High school and was of the Freewill Baptist faith.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by niece, Katherine Linthicum; and greatnephew, Torrence Linthicum.

Joseph is survived by six siblings, Connie (James) Church, of South Point, Robert (Estie) Viars, of Willow Wood, Bonnie (Barry) Smith, of Auburndale, Florida, Charles Viars, of Ironton, Alvin (Johnette) Viars, of Bullhead City, Arizona, and Ronald Viars, of Ironton; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with Chaplin Leon Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery and visitation will be Tuesday, 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to Bellefonte Cancer Center, 122 St. Christopher Drive, Ashland, KY 41101.

Doris L. Sanders Jordan, 88, of South Point, died Monday, October 28, 2019.

Funeral service 1 p.m. Saturday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point.

Visitation 6–8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Carol Delawder

Carol J. (Mickie) Delawder, 79, of Ironton, died on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019.

She was the daughter of the late Oscar McMackin and Thelma Preller McMackin. She retired from C.V.S. Ironton. Carol was an avid lover of animals. She is survived by one son, Michael L Delawder, of Ironton.

Funeral will be on Thursday 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.

Tracy Gartin

Tracy Mennis Gartin, 49, of Huntington, West Virginia, formerly of Milton, West Virginia, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 at home. He is survived by his wife, Betty Gartin.

The family will have a memorial service to honor Tracy’s life on from 3–5 p.m. Saturday on the fifth floor of Westview Manor, 601 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Huntington, West Virginia. Paul Jennings Kazee Sr., 84 of Huntington, West Virginia, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington, West Virginia. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
