Beasy, Blue Devils top Pointers in OVC, 57-26

SOUTH POINT— It was the Michael Beasy Show.
Beasy ran 36 times for 196 yards and scored six touchdowns as the Gallipolis Blue Devils outscored the South Point Pointers 57-26 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Friday.
Beasy scored on a run of 9 and one yards for a 13-0 lead, but the Pointers’ Alex Lambert hit Chance Gunther on a 74-yard touchdown pass play and it was 13-6.
Beasy then scored on runs of 6 and one yards and it was 26-6, but it was that same combination of Lambert to Gunther for 34 yards and a touchdown that cut the deficit to 26-12.
Gallipolis (9-1, 6-1) opened up a 36-12 halftime cushion on a 51-yard scoring pass from Noah Vanco to Briar Williams and a 32-yard field goal by Andrew Toler.
Jeremy McMillian ran 1-yard for a touchdown as South Point got within 36-18, but Vanco ran 4 yards for a touchdown to make it 43-18.
Gunther teamed up with Lambert on a 61-yard scoring play and McMillian’s conversion run made it a 43-26 game.
Gallipolis came right back as Vanco hit Beasy on a 1-yard TD pass play and Beasy cemented the win with an 11-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Vanco finished 12-of-21 passing for 203 yards. Wiliams had two catches for 56 yards, Ben Cox four for 53 and Cade Roberts two grabs for 48 yards.
South Point (1-9, 0-7) had 325 total yards with Lambert hitting 10-of-20 passes for 290 yards and two interceptions. The running game managed just 35 net yards.
Gunther had a huge game with three receptions for 169 yards and two TDs. Larry Fox also had a big game with five catches for 100 yards.
