HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The holidays can be a difficult time for those who have recently suffered the loss of a loved one. Cabell Huntington Hospital wants to support healing by offering an annual memorial service, An Evening of Memories.

Anyone who has lost a loved one over the past year is invited to this unique service of remembrance on Monday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Harless Auditorium at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

“This special event is a time when families of loved ones who have passed can participate in a remembrance service and share the company of others who have lost loved ones,” said Teresa Sexton, director of nursing and senior services at Cabell Huntington Hospital. “It is a time of healing and joy as we celebrate loved ones and how they made a difference in our lives and the lives of others.”

Participants will take part in the annual tradition of decorating ornaments and hanging them on a remembrance tree.

“This tradition is a symbolic way of taking the energy behind grief and putting it toward making memories and sharing fellowship with others who understand,” said Sexton. “There is no charge for this event. We want anyone who has a desire to participate to join us and make fond memories.”
