Ina Meadows

Jan. 8, 1949–Nov. 10, 2019

Ina Jean Meadows, 70, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, at her home in Hazel Green, Alabama, surrounded by family and the love of her life.

Ina Jean was born in Porter, to Lacy and Gertrude “Gertie” Mollett on Jan. 8, 1949. She married Russell Eugene Meadows on Oct. 1, 1966 in Franklin Furnace. After moving to Ironton, they started a family of their own. Ina Jean was a loving wife and devoted mother of three. She was a woman of strong faith and read scripture daily. Her unconditional love for God, her husband, her family and her community, as well as her kind, positive, and generous spirit will forever be an inspiration to us all.

Ina Jean is survived by her husband, Russell Meadows, with whom she just celebrated 53 years of marriage.

She is also survived by her two sons and their spouses, Russell Jr. and Jennifer Meadows, and Christopher and Shirley Meadows; daughter and spouse, Linda and Eric Mills; brothers and spouses, Claude and Kathy Mollett, Wayne and Terrie Mollett; brothers, Lonnie Mollett, Henry Mollett; six grandchildren, Russell Meadows III, Jessica Meadows, Alexandria Meadows, Kayla Meadows, Ava Tucker, Cierra Williams; and six great grandchildren, Daniel Boroza Meadows, Jeremy Boroza, Samuel Richardson, Russell Williams, Levi “Eric” Williams and Gavin Meadows.

Ina Jean is preceded in death by her mother, Gertrude Mollett; father, Lacy Mollett; brother, Clyde Mollett; and sisters, Christine Mollett, Maxine Mollett and Rossetta Mollett.

A Celebration of Life service will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. on Saturday at Grace Family Worship Center, 14945 HWY 231/431 North, Hazel Green, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have memorials made in Ina Jean’s name to Full Gospel Fellowship Church, 1937 Pulaski Hwy., Fayetteville, TN 37334. Linda Mills (704-500-7368) may also be contacted. All donations will go directly to the aforementioned church she so fervently attended.

Kathleen Clark

Feb. 11, 1925– Nov. 13, 2019

Kathleen E. Clark, 94, of Kitts Hill, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019 at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky.

Mrs. Clark was born Feb. 11, 1925, in Ironton, a daughter to the late Arnold and Katie (Rucker) Hankins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert “Bud” Clark Jr., in February 1990.

Mrs. Clark was a graduate of Hecla High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brother. Orin Hankins; and sister, Mina McComas Elliott.

She is survived by three children, Gloria (Johnny) DeWitt, of Kitts Hill, Ronnie (Barb) Clark, of Columbus, and Rev. Dennis (Sherri) Hankins, of Kitts Hill; eight grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with pastors Michael Long, of Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church, of Ironton, and Dr. Dennis Hankins, of Franklin Furnace Independent Baptist Church, of Franklin Furnace, officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Sugar Creek Christian Academy and/or Franklin furnace Christian Academy.

James Payne

James Lee Payne 82, of Ironton, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2019, at his residence.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Nov. 23 at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton with Rev. Jim Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Aid Cemetery. Visitation will be 6–8 p.m. Nov. 22 at the funeral home.

Josephine Morris

Josephine Morris, 53, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, at her residence.

Funeral service will be noon Monday, at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with Tim Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Puckett Cemetery and visitation will be Monday, 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Hazel Vanover

Jan. 27, 1927– Nov. 13, 2019

Hazel Jane Vanover, 92, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky.

Mrs. Vanover was born Jan. 27, 1927, in Ironton, a daughter to the late Shade and Minnie Mae (Hanshaw) Hartley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kinner Vanover, who passed away July 8, 1982.

Mrs. Vanover was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and was retired from Jo-Lin’s Health Care Center as dietary supervisor. She was a member of the Coal Grove Nazarene Church in Coal Grove.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by grandson, Scott Marcum; a sister, Ruby Hartley; and three brothers William, Harold and Donald Hartley.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Norman) Anson, of Ironton; three grandchildren, Rhonda (Ervin) Adams, of Covington, Lousiana, Jessie (John) Eagan, of Pedro and Jackie (Richard) Crabtree, of Ironton; five sisters, Rosella Haney, of Ashland, Kentucky, Maxine Rauch, of Marietta, Yvonne Wheeler, of South Point, Garnet Worthington, of Ironton, and Carol Adkins, of Ironton; a brother, Clifford Hartley of Millersburg; eight great-grandchildren, Nicole (Josh) Douglas, of South Point, Donna (Alex) Johnson, of Pedro, James Adams, Timmy Adams, both of Covington, Louisiana, Andrew Johnson, of Flatwoods, Judy Crabtree, Katie Crabtree and Emily Crabtree, all of Ironton; three great-great-grandchildren, Allyson Stevens, Colton Stevens, both of Pedro and Elliot Adams, of Covington, Louisiana; special sister-in-law, Rita Hartley; and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her.

Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, with Rev. Clifford Hartley officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Saturday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton.
