Clark Hughes

Nov. 6, 1954– Nov. 14, 2019

Clark Kent Hughes, 65, of Ironton, affectionately known as “Superman,” flew home to be with the Lord on Nov. 14, 2019.

He was born to the late Eugene and Wanda Hughes on Nov. 6, 1954, in Cincinnati.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Marlene Rose White. He is survived by his wife, Georgian Whitt-Hughes; daughter, Linda Hughes; three sons, Rick (Betty) Hughes, Brian (Mellisa) Hughes and Steven Hughes; several grandchildren, but especially close grandchildren, Faith, Gavin, Sabrina, Rowan, Adley Hughes and Luke Thompson; brothers, Charles (Therese) Hughes, Mike (Kathie) Hughes and Keith Hughes; sister-in-law, Kathy Sanders (Keith Patterson); brother-in-law, Eddie (Staci) Whitt; and many special nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Rush Masonic Lodge 715 and a member of Sharon Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday at Sharon Baptist Church, Ironton, with Pastor Steve Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church.

Hall Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.

James Payne

James Lee Payne, 82, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, at his residence.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton with Rev. Jim Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Aid Cemetery. Visitation will be 6–8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22 at the funeral home.

Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Drema Thomas

Drema Gibson Thomas, 57, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova, West Virginia. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jerry Holtzapfel

Jerry F. Holtzapfel, formerly of Ironton, 77, died on Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, in New Boston. Arrangements are pending at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home.
