Lilah Jean Burcham 

Oct. 3, 2019– Dec. 8, 2019

 

Lilah Jean Burcham, of Coal Grove, passed away Dec. 8, 2019, at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

She was born in Cincinnati, on Oct. 3, 2019 to Kyle Burcham and Lakynn Jones Burcham.

Survivors also include brother, Chevy Burcham; grandparents, Ryan and Christina Jones, James and Paula Riggle, Roger and Carol Sexton, Matt Burcham; greatgrandparents, Ronnnie and Marg Dickess, Thomas and Betty Riggle and Curt and Jean Dickess.

Funeral will be at noon on Wednesday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Markins officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.

 

Shanna Ramey

June 19, 1971–Dec. 7, 2019

 

Shanna Rae Ramey, 48, of Pedro, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky.

Mrs. Ramey was born June 19, 1971, in Lawrence County, a daughter to Vicki Kelley Ellis of Pedro, John Frazier of Ironton and David Johnson of Alabama. She is also survived by her husband, Rusty K. Ramey.

Shanna was a 1989 graduate of Dawson Bryant High School and received her associate degree from Shawnee State University. She was a physical therapy assistant. Shanna loved animals, especially her two dogs, Yogi and Snoopy, and enjoyed the great outdoors, the beach, and riding horses. She was a member of Shawnee State Alumni Association and attended Campbell Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by an aunt, Cosie Cook; and maternal grandparents, Nadi and Glen Kelley.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by children, Jesse (Ashley) Wilds and Josie Ramey; grandson-on-the-way Braxton Levi Wilds; a brother, Andy Ellis; two aunts, Glenna Cellar and Pat (Steve) Burke, an uncle, Steve Kelley; special cousins, Charlie, Amy, Kelli, Kristen, Tara, Cody and Corey; and stepfather, John Ellis.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton, with Pastor Tommy Melvin officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, noon until time of the service at the funeral home.

Helen Kearns

Dec. 22, 1933– Dec. 7, 2019

 

Helen Virginia (Bowling) Kearns, 85, of South Point, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, surrounded by her loved ones at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Ashland, Kentucky. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Helen was born Dec. 22, 1933 in Ashland, Kentucky, to the late Opie Bowling and Paul and Alma Frazier. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Garland Wendell Kearns, and their five children, Paul Kearns, of Florida, James (Kelli) Kearns, of Ironton, Brian (Brenda) Kearns, of Tennessee, Brenda (Mike) Horan, of South Point, and Karen (Jim) Pinkerman, of South Point.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Brandon Horan; and her brother, Jim Bowling.

She is also survived by one brother, Paul (Bud) Frazier Jr.; her grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew, Sunny, Joshua, Caleb, Chelsea, Chris, Amanda, David, Allyson, Michael, Daniel, Patrick, Brandon, Skylar, and Shawn; and her 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton, with her sons, Brian Kearns and James Kearns, officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. There will be a graveside service 2 p.m. Thursday at Highland Memorial Gardens.

Teresa Carmon

Aug. 12, 1954– Dec. 6, 2019

 

Teresa Ann Markel Carmon, 65, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Ashland, Kentucky.

Teresa was born Aug. 12, 1954, in Ironton, a daughter to the late Paul and Emma Mae (Fisher) Markel. She is survived by her husband, Michael Carmon.

Teresa was a 1972 graduate of Rock Hill High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Paul Carmon.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Wilbur Stapleton; a granddaughter, Chastity Bailey; a grandson, David Bailey; a brother and sister-in-law, Emory Jacob and Lynn Markel; a sister, Eva Jo Mick and the late James Mick; three nephews, J.L. Mick, Jay Markel and Eric Markel; two nieces, Veronica Mick and Lindsay Markel; a caregiver, Winnie Workman; and a pet dog, Baby Zoey.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with Brother Dave Schug officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 6–8 p.m.at the funeral home.

Carrol Arden

Sept. 14, 1931– Dec. 7, 2019

 

Carrol Marion Arden, 88, of Pedro, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 at Close To Home Assisted Living, Ironton. Ms. Arden was born Sept. 14, 1931, a daughter of the late Riburn and Margaret (Horn) Arden.

Ms. Arden graduated from Decatur Washington School and was a food service worker for River Valley Health for 35 years, retiring in 1997. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Phillips, Kathleen Kelly and Betty Ferguson; and three brothers, Kay Arden, George Arden and Earl Roy Arden.

She is survived by her niece, Dianna (Richard) Allen, of Ashland, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with Reverend Bryan Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Arden Cemetery and visitation will be Wednesday, noon until the time of service.

John Reaper Jr.

John Reaper Jr., 76, of Pedro, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at his residence.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Cole Reaper.

Col. Kenneth Adkins

Col. Kenneth D. Adkins, 71, of Lesage, West Virginia, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019 at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Adkins.
