— 2020 dog tags are on sale now through Jan. 31 at the following locations: Lawrence County Auditor’s Office, Lawrence County Animal Shelter, Jim’s Gun Shop, Dickess Market, South Point Storage, and Pine Tree Carry Out. The price is $16 per dog, $12 per spayed/neutered dog or $48 for a three-year tag per dog.
— Feed the Fire raffle is being held for a new Henry 45/70 lever action rifle. All proceeds go to the JD Coffman Memorial Scholarship Fund. Chances are $1 and the winner will be drawn Dec. 21. Tickets can be purchased at Sheridan’s Kwik Stop, 1616 S. Third St., Ironton or by contacting Dickie Neal at 1-740-534-3269 or Louie Sheridan at 1-740-547-8387.
— The Ladies 9-Hole Golf Association meets at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Ironton Country Club, with play at 10 a.m.
— Ironton First Church of the Nazarene has an open 12-step meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays. Please enter via the Pleasant Street entrance or the back door.
— Lawrence County Developmental Disabilities has its monthly meetings at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the board office, 606 Carlton Davidson Lane, Coal Grove.
— The WIC Office, located 203 Center St. in Ironton, will have a walk-in clinic from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Dec. 27.

— The Lawrence County Health Department offers a free car seat program for those who qualify. If you are in need, please call 740-532-3962 to be placed on a first-come, first-served waiting list.
— Nancy’s Nook, 106 N. Third St., Ironton, is open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Items for sale include glassware, pictures, angels, greeting cards, kitchen and workshop items, furniture, sports cards, candles, purses and more. Proceeds benefit Harvest for the Hungry food pantry, which serves all of Lawrence County. For more information, call 740-646-4188.
— Harvest for the Hungry Food Pantry is open from 5-8 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month.

— Morning Pointe of Russell will have an Alzheimer’s support group at 2 p.m. on the second Friday of each month.
— Ohio State Legal Services Association provides free representation in civil matters to people who cannot afford an attorney in Lawrence and surrounding counties. For more information call 1-800-589-5888.
— Those who want to obtain a permit to carry a concealed weapon from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office should call 740-532-3525 and schedule an appointment. This is essential since staff is not always available to process these permits.
— The Ironton American Legion Post 433 hosts a pool tournament at 7 p.m. every Tuesday, a card night at 7 p.m. every Thursday and karaoke from 8:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. every Friday. The post’s hours are 2 p.m.-1 a.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon-1 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. It is located at 310 S. Third St., Ironton.
— The Lawrence County Veterans Service Commission and Lawrence County Recorder Sharon Gossett Hager are now offering veteran ID cards to any Lawrence County veteran who is honorably discharged. Veterans must provide a DD-214 and must be registered with the recorder’s office. Residency status must be verified by driver’s license, recent utility bill, etc. Veterans must have served active duty other than for training purposes only and discharge must be honorable or general under honorable conditions. No other character of service will be accepted. The five branches of service are Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy and Marines. Merchant Marines qualify with a valid DD-214 only. If a veteran is unable to locate their discharge, the veterans’ service office will assist in submitting a request. ID cards will be issued by appointment only and by calling the recorder’s office at 740-533-4314. For more information about what qualifies as honorable service, contact the recorder’s office.
