Helen McDaniel

May 9, 1936–Dec. 12, 2019

Helen M. McDaniel, 83, of Ironton, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, in Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky.

She was born May 9, 1936 in Ironton, a daughter of the late Raymond and Delphia Clark Defour. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll McDaniel, and two sisters, Bernice Ratliff and Louise Aldridge.

Helen is survived by her children, Janet (Don) Aldridge Perky, of Coal Grove, Penny Lewis, of Ironton, Cindy Wilson, of Coal Grove, Alden (Cheryl) McDaniel, of Kitts Hill, Larry (Vicki) McDaniel, of Coal Grove, Jerry (Peggy) McDaniel, of Kitts Hill, and Lisa (Scott) Black, of Ironton; 17 grandchildren, Andrew Bowman, Anthony Bowman, Cameron Roach, Jason Lewis, Shannon Lewis, Shelly McDaniel, Billy McDaniel, Chris McDaniel, Shawn McDaniel, J.D. McDaniel, Sarah McDaniel, David McDaniel, Michael McDaniel, Matthew McDaniel and Alicia Bailey; nine great-grandchildren, Sarah, Haley, Lauren, Derick, Isabella, Zachary, Rylee, McKenzie, Parker, Gunner, Ryan, JC and Kiersten; two great-grandchildren, Addlynn and Mason.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Coal Grove Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jeff Canfield officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service at the church.

William Holston Sr.

Nov. 11, 1943–Dec. 12, 2019

William “Bill” J. Holston Sr., 76, of Ironton, passed away peacefully at his residence, Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019.

The Lawrence County native was born Nov. 11, 1943, the third oldest of seven, born to the late William E. and Gertrude (Gildea) Holston.

Bill was a U.S. Army veteran with service in the U.S.A. and Germany. Upon returning home, he met and married the love of his life, Sheila Kay Bailey, on Nov. 3, 1967, a marriage which lasted for 46 years until her passing in July 2010.

He was a former Ironton Police officer, graduating with the 1st Class at the Police Academy in Logan.

Bill’s greatest enjoyment was his family. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Russell, Kentucky, and was an avid Ohio State Football fan.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Curtis R. and Larry Holston

He is survived by three sisters, Phyllis (Leon) Hall, of Crossville, Tennessee, Carol McKnight, of Coal Grove, and Judith (Dan) Wolfer, of Churchville, New York; brother, Richard Holston, of Jacksonville, Florida; sister-in-law, Johnda, of Warren; four children, Patty A. Fields, of Ironton, William (Bill) J, Holston, II, of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Shawna Fliehman and Donna Stevens, both of Ironton. He was a proud grandpa to 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and several great grand kids; also, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and family who will mourn his passing.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1001 Kenwood Drive, Russell, Kentucky, with Gail Beaman officiating. Burial will follow in Laurence Furnace Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, 4–6 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, Ohio and Monday, noon until time of the service at the church.

Frances Stephens

Frances M. Stephens, 83, of Proctorville, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019 at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia.

A private family graveside service will be held at Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller.

Wanda L. Collier, 86, of South Point, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, at home.

Patricia Fullerton

Patricia Brewster Fullerton, 76, of Proctorville, died Friday, Dec. 13, 201,9 at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Fullerton.

Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Visitation will be held 1–2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
