James Cochran

Aug. 3, 1943–Dec. 14, 2019

Mr. James E. Cochran, 76, of Ironton, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, at University of Cincinnati Hospital.

The Ironton native was born Aug. 3, 1943, a son to the late Wilburn and Jewell (Kingery) Cochran. James was also proceeded in death by his wife, Helen (Newcomb) Cochran, who passed away in September 2002.

Mr. Cochran was a graduate of Kitts Hill High School. James was an auto body repairman at Shaffer Brothers where he retired in 2003 after 28 years of service. James loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He was also a member of the Lawrence County Bass Club.

James is survived by two daughters, Jamie (Les) Ellis, of Ironton and Tina (Denver) Wells, of Ironton, four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jessica) Wells, of Madisonville, Kentucky; Kaelynn Ellis; Emmalee Ellis; and Nate Ellis, all of Ironton; a special friend, Janet McKenzie; a sister, Shirley (Don) Asbury, of Arizona; three brothers, Eddie Cochran of Kitts Hill; Larry (Judy) Cochran; and Rick (Jean) Cochran, of Oak Hill.

In addition to his parents and wife, James was proceeded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Turley; and three brothers, Wilburn Cochran, Kenneth Cochran and Donald Cochran

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with Bro. Dave Shug officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5–7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Hazel Pelay

Hazel Roberta Pelay, 92, of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away Thursday Dec. 12, 2019 at home.

There will be no services. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements.

Orval Munyon Jr.,

Orval Munyon Jr., 52, of Ironton, died Dec. 14, 2019 at Kings Daughters Hospital.

The family has entrusted his care to the Taylor-Brown family of Brown Funeral Chapel.
