PEDRO — Those starter quarters proved to be the end for the Rock Hill Redwomen.
The Redwomen couldn’t get going to start the game or the second half as they fell 56-35 to the Northwest Lady Mohawks in a non-league game on Wednesday.
Haidyn Wamsley scored 6 points, Ava Jenkins had 5 points including a 3-pointer and Val Copas added a 3-pointer as Northwest raced to a 16-3 first quarter lead.
Savannah Cade hit a trey for the only Rock Hill points.
The Redwomen played the Lady Mohawks even in the second quarter with each team scoring 10 points.
MaKenzie Hanshaw scored 4 points as four different players scored for Rock Hill.
Jenkins had 4 points in the quarter for Northwest.
After the break, it was time to start back and Northwest outscored the Redwomen 19-8 to build a 45-21 lead.
Wamsley and Jenkins combined for 11 points while Terah Webb had a 3-pointer for the Lady Mohawks.
Lucy Simpson was 6-of-8 at the foul line and Hanshaw hit a basket to account for Rock Hill’s scoring in the quarter.
Rock Hill outscored Northwest 14-11 in the fourth quarter as Hanshaw scored 5 more points.
Copas had 5 for Northwest.
Hanshaw scored 11 points, Simpson 8 and Cade 7 to lead the Redwomen (1-7).
Wamsley scored 15, Jenkins 14 and Copas 11 for Northwest (7-2).
Rock Hill visits Fairland on Thursday.
