Chesy mayor to choose council seat

CHESAPEAKE — The village council of Chesapeake had intended to fill a vacant seat on the body at a special session on Thursday.
However, as there were not enough council members available to attend that session, they were unable to have a quorum and the choice of the replacement will now fall to outgoing Mayor Tommy Templeton.
Council member Richard Stover announced his resignation the last week of November.
The council had originally offered the seat to Templeton, who declined at December’s regular session, so the special session was scheduled.
If a choice is not made within 30 days, the decision falls to Templeton, whose term runs until Dec. 31.
Templeton narrowly lost his bid for re-election in November to Kimberly Oldaker by a three-vote margin. She will take over as mayor on Jan. 1 and took the oath of office in advance at an event on Friday.
