SOUTH WEBSTER — The players for the South Webster Jeeps might like going to a rural school, but they sure like going downtown when they play games.
The Jeeps went “downtown” on Saturday night as they hit 14 3-point goals and beat the Symmes Valley Vikings 75-67 in a non-league game.
Trae Zimmerman made seven 3-pointers and scored 31 points while Braden Bockway hit four more deep shots and scored 17 points for the Jeeps (2-6). Andrew Smith hit two bombs and scored 12 points.
Symmes Valley (4-3) was led by Drew Scherer who had 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.
Jack Leith had 16 points and 6 rebounds and Logan Walsh scored 15 points. Luke Leith had 6 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.
Walsh made three treys and Scherer had a triple and two foul shots as the Vikings took a 20-15 first quarter lead. Zimmerman and Devyn Coriell had 5 points each including a 3-pointer for the Jeeps.
The Jeeps rallied in the second quarter as Zimmerman scored 12 points to give them a 37-35 lead at the half. Scherer had 7 points for the Vikings.
Zimmerman hit four 3-pointers and Bockway added another and it was 56-51.
Scherer was 4-of-4 at the line and Leith and Josh Ferguson scored 4 points each in the quarter, but the Jeeps got three triples from Bockway who scored 10 points to help seal the outcome.
Symmes Valley host South Gallia on Saturday.
