MARIETTA — The Fairland Lady Dragons found playing back-to-back days including an overtime can do bad things to their offense.
The Lady Dragons struggled to score against the Fort Frye defense as the Cadets beat Fairland 49-37 at Marietta College on Saturday.
Kiersten Kesselring and Hannah Archer each hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points as Fort Frye went up 14-7 in the first quarter.
Harlie Lyons and Jenna Stone hit 3-pointers for Fairland.
Lyons made another 3-pointer and scored 5 points while Emma Marshall got 4 points as Fairland mounted a comeback.
But Archer hit two more 3-pointers and Makenzie Dalton had 5 points as the Lady Cadets extended the lead to 27-18 at the half.
Archer and Dalton scored 4 points each in the third quarter as Fort Frye went up 38-27.
Lyons made her third 3-pointer and scored 5 points in the quarter for Fairland.
Tomi Hinkle had 5 points including 3-of-4 from the line and Katie Brumfield hit a trifecta for Fairland in the fourth quarter.
However, the Lady Cadets were 8-of-12 from the foul line in the fourth quarter with Makenzie Dalton going 5-of-6 and Archer 2-for-2 plus a 3-point goal.
Lyons finished with 14 points as seven different players scored for the Lady Dragons (5-6).
Archer had a game-high 20 points for Fort Frye (8-1).
Fairland plays Rock Hill on Thursday.
