CHILLICOTHE — If basketball shooting was a foreign language class, the Rock Hill Redmen would have aced it on Saturday.
The Redmen took high-percentage shots and made 49 percent from the field as they beat the Southeastern Panthers 55-44.
“The boys did a good job of going to the basket for high percentage shots which translated into a good shooting night at 50 percent from the floor,” said Redmen coach Gordy Collins.
Owen Hankins and Logan Hankins combined for 10 points in the first quarter as Rock Hill took an 18-10 lead.
Garrett Miller hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points while Braden Stamper and Logan Hankins scored 4 points each and Rock Hill extended its lead to 36-22 at the half.
Aaron Gillum had 6 points in the second quarter for the Panthers.
Rock Hill went up 46-29 after three quarters as Owen Hankins and Stamper combined for all 10 points in the quarter.
The Redmen scored just 9 points in the fourth quarter as they went just 5-of-9 at the foul line. Logan Hankins had 6 points and was 2-of-2 at the line.
Derek Wheeler had 5 points including 3-of-3 from the line in the fourth quarter for Southeastern.
“We’d like to have a better performance from the free throw line, but we’ll take the win on the road,” said Collins.
Logan Hankins score 14 points to lead a balanced Rock Hill offense. Owen Hankins scored 10 while Miller and Stamper had 10 points each.
“It was nice to see four guys in double figures on offense. We’re playing well as a team,” said Collins.
