Wilma Martin

Sept. 17, 1932—Dec.30, 2019

Wilma L. Martin, 87, passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of our Lord, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, Dec. 30, 2019 at Community Hospice House.

The Franklin Furnace native was born on Sept. 17, 1932, a daughter of the late Frank and Edna (Holbrook) Valentine. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray E. Martin, whom she married Jan. 12, 1952.

Mrs. Martin was a graduate of Rock Hill High School, she enjoyed a long career with Ohio Bell (now AT&T), until her retirement. Mrs. Martin faithfully attended church services at Resurrection Hope United Methodist Church, until her health prevented her to do so. She had previously attended Plymouth Heights Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Valentine;  a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Robert Brislin;  brother-in-law, James Colvin; nephew, Robert D. Brislin; and great nephew, Steven M. Brislin.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Ruth Colvin; sister-in-law, Mary Valentine; and many nieces and nephews, who she treated as her own.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with Rev. Terry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Section C. Friends and family may call from 11 a.m.  until time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in Wilma’s name to Community Hospice Care Center, 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland, KY 41101 and/or Resurrection Hope United Methodist Church, 617 Wyanoke St., Ironton, Ohio 45638.

David Williams

David Gregory Williams, 57, of Huntington, West Virginia, died  Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019 at home.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Transformation Community Church, 1201 Madison Ave. Huntington, WV 25704 by Rev. Deb Winters.  The family will receive friends 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
