Fairland girls start fast to get easy win

PEDRO — After a bad first half on Wednesday, the Fairland Lady Dragons didn’t wait this time.
The Lady Dragons built a 19-point first half lead as they beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 56-23 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Tomi Hinkle scored 8 points including a pair of 3-pointers and Miaa Howard had all 5 of her points as Fairland took an 18-6 first quarter lead.
Jenna Stone scored 6 points and Hinkle hit another 3-pointer and scored 5 points and it was 31-12 at the half.
Emma Marshall had a 3-pointer as she scored 5 points and Hinkle added 4 more as the lead went to 46-14 to end the third quarter.
Stone scored 8 points in the fourth quarter to set the final score.
Hinkle scored a game-high 18 points and Stone had 14 points to lead Fairland (12-9, 10-3).
Savannah Cade hit a pair of 3-pointers for 6 points and Lucy Simpson had 6 points for Rock Hill (5-14, 2-11).
Rock Hill host Grace Christian on Saturday while Fairland entertains Ironton next Thursday.
