WILLOW WOOD — The Rock Hill Redwomen got their offense going in the first half, then turned to their defense in the second half.
Rock Hill had one of its better first half scoring efforts of the second and then followed that with a strong defensive performance in the second in beating the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings 54-35 on Monday.
Rock Hill (6-15) had three players in double figures as Lucy Simpson scored 13 points, Keilie Adams 11 and MaKayla Scott 10.
The Lady Vikings (5-16) had seven different players score with Taylor Sells scoring 8 points and Kylee Thompson scored 7.
Sells had 10 rebounds and 4 steals while Jenna Malone, Payton Hunter and Rachael Hayes had 2 assists each.
Simpson scored 6 points, Adams and Savannah McGraw 4 points each and Savannah Cade hit a 3-pointer as Rock Hill took a 19-10 first quarter lead.
Thompson hit a 3-pointer and combined with Hailie Littlejohn to score 9 points for the Lady Vikings.
Spring Ross and Sells scored 4 points in the second quarter as the Lady Vikings sliced the deficit to 29-21 at the half.
Adams hit a trifecta and Simpson had 3 points for the Redwomen.
Rock Hill held Symmes Valley to 4 points in the third quarter and extended the lead to 40-25.
In the fourth quarter, Scott scored 6 points and Adams drained another triple and added a foul shot as the Redwomen outscored the Lady Vikings 14-9.
Sells had 4 points in the quarter and the Lady Vikings were just 5-of-12 from the foul line.
