PEDRO — Forget all this share and share alike stuff.
The Fairland Dragons had no desire to share the Ohio Valley Conference championship as they breezed by the Rock Hill Redmen 65-34 on Saturday to clinch the title outright.
Fairland finished the regular season 20-2 and 13-1 in the league, one game ahead of runner-up Chesapeake.
Aiden Porter scored 18 points and Clayton Thomas hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 points to lead the Dragons.
Jacob Polcyn and Gavin Hunt had 10 rebounds each, Thomas had 4 assists and Hunt 3 while Hunt had 5 steals and Jordan Williams 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
Braden Stamper and Logan Hankins scored 12 points each for the Redmen (3-19, 0-14). Stamper also had 5 rebounds, Hankins 4 and Nick Blankenship 3.
Porter and Thomas each hit a pair of 3-pointers and Polcyn scored 5 points as Fairland rolled out to a 21-10 first quarter lead. Stamper had 4 points for the Redmen.
Zander Schmidt hit a pair of 3-pointers and Thomas and Tevin Taylor added one each as Fairland blew the game open in the second quarter by taking a 38-14 halftime lead.
Hankins hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points and Stamper got 4 points in the third as Rock Hill outscored Fairland 12-10 to make it 48-26.
But Porter made a pair of 3-pointers and scored 10 points and Nate Thacker added his own triple as Fairland outscored the Redmen 17-8 in the fourth quarter.
Stamper scored 4 of Rock Hill’s 8 points in the quarter.
UP NEXT: In the Division 3 sectional at Jackson, Fairland plays at 6 p.m. Friday against the Belpre-Westfall winner while Rock Hill faces Alexander at 6:15 Tuesday.
