About 25 donors were scheduled to donate on Thursday for a blood drive in the Mains Rotunda at Ohio University Southern.

“We typically do this once a semester,” Martha Evans, assistant professor and campus liaison at the school, said.

The event is conducted by the Kappa Delta Pi education honor society with members of the American Red Cross handling the process.

Evans said donors register for the event in advance and they typically get a few dozen.

“And we get to know a lot of them,” she said of repeat donors.

She said the next drive will take place on July 1 at the school and those who would like donate can go redcrossblood,org/rapidpass to register.

Organizers said the donations are then taken to a local blood bank, where they are screened and sorted and then sent out to locations based on the most need.

They said those who donate can use the Red Cross app to follow information on their donation and see where it was put to use.
