Donald R. Butcher

Jan. 29, 1940–March 28, 2020

Donald R. Burcher, of Scottown, went home to be with his Lord on March 28, 2020, at the age of 80.

Donnie was born on Jan. 29, 1940 in Johnson County, KY to the late Angus and Mildred Butcher.

Donnie attended Flat Gap High School for three years and graduated after two years from Meade Memorial High School in 1959. He was an avid basketball player while he attended both schools. Donnie was a veteran of the U.S. Army, he served for three years as a medical lab technician in Washington state and Germany. He was employed at Armco Steel in the chemical lab for 35 years.

Donnie loved the great outdoors. He hunted and fished and loved to be in the woods. Later, he traveled all across America, including driving to Alaska several times. He often said being in the outdoors was like having church. He loved religious and bluegrass music.

Donnie was a loving father, grandfather and uncle.

He is survived by his daughter. Janie Butcher; granddaughter. Tessa Noelle Butcher; also special nephews and nieces, Jerry Butcher (Edith), Marcia Butcher, Tiffany Clay (Jake and Shelby), Barry Butcher (Drew) and James Butcher; and special friends, Donnie Cochran and Jackie Cox.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bonnie Fraley; brothers, Granville “Bo” Butcher, Morris “Bootie” Butcher, Angus “Pete” Butcher, Joe Butcher and Clifford Butcher; and sisters-in-law, Joy Butcher, Patsy Butcher and Jane Butcher.

Private fraveside service for Mr. Butcher will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum. Private family visitation at 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Neal Funeral Home, 2409 Center St., Catlettsburg.

Jeffrey Jo Fout, 60, of Waterloo, died March 27, 2020, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia.

There will be a funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton, with Pastor Trent Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Old Baptist Cemetery, 16688 County Road 2, Scottown. The family will welcome friends for a visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Thursday.

Hedy Thacker

Hedy Lou Thacker, 79, of Proctorville, died Saturday, March 28, 2020, in Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia.

Private family funeral service will be Wednesday at the Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, with Pastor Jeff Black officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville.

Christopher S. Shipley, 46, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia.

Kevin Nida Sr.

Kevin Scott Nida, Sr., 59, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Friday, March 27, 2020, in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Lovealee Baldwin-Nida.

Services will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday at The Crossing Baptist Church, Proctorville and also streamed on the church’s Facebook page with Pastor Ricky Ray officiating.
