Jimmy Eubert Blanton, 83, of Franklin Furnace, passed away on April 14, 2020, at his residence. He was born Feb. 27, 1937, the son of the late Jimmie and Nannie Vanhorn Blanton.

Eubert was a 1955 graduate of Ironton High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he spent most of his time in Fairbanks, Alaska.

He retired in 1997 from AK Steel after working there for 42 years as an electrician. Also, he was God gifted mechanically, with the ability to fix anything, beginning with his parents’ garage. He also was always available to fix anything that broke for the church, friends and family.

He became an ordained minister with the Iron Hill United Baptist Association on Nov. 15, 1986 and had his membership at the Ohio Valley United Baptist Church in Wheelersburg. He was a member there since the Lord saved his soul in May of 1971. His wish was always that his family and friends would come to truly know God and Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

After retirement, he loved to educate the public about the health benefits of chiropractic services and volunteered many hours at both Blanton Chiropractic and ABC Chiropractic. He was an avid golfer and loved to watch all sports, especially the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team.

He was preceded in death by (in addition to his parents) his wife, Doris Arthur Blanton, whom he married on Aug. 3, 1963; brothers, Albert and George Blanton; brother-in-laws, John Patrick, Jack Gentry, Chester Willis, William Castle and Richard Riffitt; and sister-in-laws, Bethany Holbrook, Gereline Riffitt, Wilma Castle and Lorraine Blanton.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Krista Blanton of Scott Depot, West Virginia; daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Garret McCalvin, of Franklin Furnace; grandson, Kiefer McCalvin, of Franklin Furnace; brother, Clarence Blanton, of Oak Hill; sisters, Stella Rawlins and Barbara Willis, of Ironton; sister-in-laws, Lorraine Patrick, of Franklin Furnace, and Daphne Gentry (Tim Holbrook), of Kitts Hill; brother-in-laws, Tony (Darlene) Arthur, of Ashland, Kentucky and Dallas Holbrook, of Kitts Hill; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the newly-founded Jimmy and Doris Blanton scholarship fund, 701 Junior Road, Franklin Furnace, OH 45629. They both encouraged continuing education to all they came in contact with.

Military Rites will be presented by American Legion James Dickie Post #23 in Portsmouth.
