Joan Kerns

May 16, 1934– April 23, 2020

 

Joan Kerns, 85, of Pedro, died Thursday, April 23, 2020, at her home.

She was born May 16, 1934, in Portsmouth. She was a former member of the Worldwide Church of God in Pasadena, California and a current member of the Philadelphia Church of God in Edmond, Oklahoma.

She was a homemaker and a graduate of Rock Hill High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Turk” Kerns; her parents, Roy and Waneda Cremeans; and a brother, Robert Cremeans. Survivors include her daughters, Sherry (Roger) “Buck” Ruth, of Pedro, and Linda (Bill) Turvey, of Oak Hill; three brothers, James (Mary) Cremeans, of Pedro, Richard (Donna) Cremeans, of Lexington, Kentucky, and Charlie (Virginia) Cremeans, of Ironton; three sisters, Linda (Leon) Dalton, of Pedro, Sandy Keaton, of Kitts Hill, and Becky (Michael) Thompson, of Anderson, South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Eric (Brianna) Ruth, of Pedro, Ben (Melania Sanders) Ruth, of Pedro, Johnny (Miranda) Webb, of Minford, Joe (Lindsey) Webb, of Pedro, Kristy (Nathan) Rusk, of Pedro, Emily (Milton) DePries,t of Kitts Hill, Jared (Aby Morgan) Webb, of Pedro, and Tanya (Rick) Rusche, of San Tan Valley, Arizona; and eight great grandchildren, Sammy Rusk, Miles Webb, Sophie Rusk, Harleigh Webb, Lydia Rusche, Matthew Ruth, Kaitlyn Ruth and Ashley Lynd.

Per Joan’s request, there will be a private family service at the convenience of the family.

Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, is assisting the family with arrangements.

William Lewis

Nov. 1, 1945– April 24, 2020

 

William Lewis, 74, of Pedro, passed away at his home on Friday, April 24, 2020.

He was born Nov. 1, 1945, to the late Miles and Clella M. Cambell (Jackie) Lewis.

He was preceded by his wife, Joy Gunter Lewis, and by one son, Billy Lewis.

He is survived by daughters, Viola (Mike) Slone, Betty Lewis and Chrystal Loeber; one son, Mike Lewis; three brothers, Miles Lewis, Jim Lewis and Rick Lewis; two sisters, Brenda Pinkerman and Debbie Lewis.

Due to the current health regulations, a private family graveside service will be Monday at Woodland Cemetery.

O’Keefe-Baker Funeral is assisting the family.

 

 

Larry Sexton

Larry D. Sexton, 68, of Kitts Hill, died Thursday, April 23, 2020, at his residence.

He is survived by his wife, Gina Adkins Sexton

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Cemetery, Burlington, with Pastor Billy Markins officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5 –7 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton.
