PORTSMOUTH — The Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cincinnati will be hosting a Virtual Volunteer Expo Wednesday, May 6.

The group, which serves 37 counties, including Lawrence County, across southern Ohio and Indiana, will host two one-hour sessions, with the first beginning at 8 a.m. and the second beginning at 7 p.m. The purpose of this event is to tell people about volunteer opportunities with the Alzheimer’s Association, including the planning committee for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

The group is in need of volunteers for the walk, as well as support group, social engagement, and education volunteers.

Jeff Dhenher, walk manager, for the group said the walk for our region is tentatively set for Oct. 17 at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth.

He said a portion of the funds raised from the walk go to benefit the group’s service area.

“So the money raised in Portsmouth will benefit Lawrence County,” he said. “We would love to get people from Ironton and Lawrence County involved.”
