Safety measures being installed, masks required
After being appointment only since March, the Lawrence County Courthouse is doing a soft reopening on Monday.
Commissioner DeAnna Holliday made the announcement during the May 12 county commissioners meeting.
“Our main objective is to keep our employees safe and keep the public safe,” she said.
She said it is taking a little bit of time to install protective barriers and implement protective procedures this week. Among things being put in are plastic barriers, marks to indicate six-feet social distancing and sanitary stations. Employees will have their temperature taken before the work day starts.
Employees and members of the public will be required to wear masks. And security will only allow a certain number of people in at a time.
“Once we get every measure in place that we can to protect the public and the employees, we will have a full re-opening,” Holliday said. “For now, I would recommend you contact the office you need to visit or do business with and they will instruct you on what procedure you need to follow.”
She said they are excited to get the courthouse re-opened and serve the people of Lawrence County once again.
The re-opening is being done in conjunction with the Lawrence County Health Department to make sure things comply with state orders.
