Woman killed in motorcycle accident

Bike went off the side of State Route 93
A West Virginia woman was killed in motorcycle accident on Saturday.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol received a call at 4:34 p.m. on Saturday about a motorcycle crash on State Route 93 near milepost 13 in Elizabeth Township.
According to the OSHP, Aaron T. Thornton, 50, of Scott Depot, West Virginia, was operating a black 2014 Harley Davidson “S” series motorcycle north of State Route 93 when the bike dropped off the right side of the roadway. Both Thornton and a passenger, Shannon L. Thornton, 49, of Scott Depot, West Virginia, were thrown from the motorcycle.
Aaron T. Thornton was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital with serious injuries. Shannon L. Thornton was transported to the same hospital by Lawrence County EMS.
On Sunday, the OSHP was notified around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday that Shannon L. Thornton had died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The Ironton OSHP Post was assisted on the scene by the Elizabeth Township Fire Department and the Lawrence County EMS.
The crash remains under investigation.
