Ernest Perkins

July 1, 2020–Feb. 20, 1938

 

Ernest “Sonny” Ray Perkins, 82, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at his residence. The Ironton native was born Feb. 20, 1938, the son of the late Warner C. Perkins and Verna Mae Simpson Perkins.

 

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Nan Perkins, who passed away Nov. 17, 2014.

 

Mr. Perkins was a 1957 graduate of Ironton High School and a former machinist for Dayton Malleable, where he worked for almost 27 years. He also worked for Ironton Iron for 13 years.

 

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jones and close friend, Wayne Harmon

 

He is survived by three nephews, Tom Jones, of West Virginia, David Jones, of New Mexico, and Donald Jones, of Indiana; close friends, Carol Harmon, of Ironton, and Mark (Kathy) Frazer, of Ironton; and caregivers, Kim Bare, Candace Caplinger, Michelle Swab and Sharanda Akers, who took very good care of Sonny.

 

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Woodland Cemetery, 824 Lorain St. Ironton, with Rev. Ronnie Blagg officiating.

Arlon Meadows

Arlon Lewis Meadows, 69, of Chesapeake, died Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at home.

 

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller.

Gary Deer, Sr., 87, of Jamestown, formerly of Franklin Furnace, died July 1, 2020.

 

A graveside service for immediate family is planned at Woodland Cemetery in Bowersville.

Harold Lawson

Harold Kenneth Lawson, 86, of Proctorville, died on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.

 

Entombment will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller.

Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Larry Rusty Curry, 56, of Chesapeake, died Thursday, June 25, 2020.
