Give us your heroes

Published 9:55 am Thursday, November 5, 2015

If you look around Lawrence County, it’s not difficult to find good people doing their part to make the community a better place.

Many of those helpers are members of civic groups, clubs, churches and other organizations, whose missions are well known to the community.

But just as many of the people who spend their time doing good deeds do so unnoticed by the community. Sometimes those helpers act in secret, not wanting to take any credit for their contributions. Sometimes, they perform acts of kindness that may seem small to the collective community, but make a huge impact in one person’s life.

It’s that time of year again when The Tribune calls on all its readers to shine a light on those unsung heroes who make a difference for Lawrence County.

Each year, we publish those reader-submitted entries in our annual Profile edition, which is set for publication at the end of February.

If you know of someone who is making a difference in your neighborhood, school, workplace or anywhere in Lawrence County, please submit a short description of that person and tell us why her or she is an unsung hero.

All nominations should be emailed to michelle.goodman@irontontribune.com, dropped off at our office during normal business hours at 2903 S. Fifth St., or mailed in to P.O. Box 647 Ironton, OH 45638.

If it is mailed, please be sure to put it to the attention of “Unsung Heroes.” All nominations must be received by The Tribune by Jan. 9.

Help us recognize the many people who are so generous with their time and talents without asking for anything in return.
